The Meiji EMZ-10 differs from the Meiji EMZ-5 by having a longer working distance when used without an auxiliary lens 110mm/4-3/8" for EMZ-10 vs 93mm/3-5/8" for the EMZ-5.  This increase working distance is 17mm or about 3/4", a relatively small distance. The EMZ-10 is supplied with a protective lens instead of a working distance increasing auxiliary lens that is supplied standard with the EMZ-5 that we sell. You can select from a variety of auxiliary lens that fit both scopes to change the working distance as you see fit. See below for information on auxiliary lenses. Working distance is important to consider in setting up your scope to your working environment. Will you be working on top of your bench or will you set up your bench to work lower near the catch tray? How tall are you? How tall is your bench? How tall is your chair? How much room do you need for your hands and tools? As a general rule, choose an EMZ 10 if you wish to work on-top of your bench. Choose an EMZ-5 if you wish to work lower near your catch tray.
