Clean After Each Use: After the griddle cools, use a griddle scraper to remove grease and food debris from the cooking surface. Follow up with a soft cloth or sponge and warm, soapy water to clean the griddle surface thoroughly.
Season the Griddle: To maintain the griddle's non-stick surface and prevent rust, apply a thin layer of cooking oil after cleaning. Heat the griddle to allow the oil to coat the surface. Re-season as needed, especially after deep cleaning.
Empty and Clean the Grease Tray: Make sure to empty and clean the grease collection tray regularly to prevent grease buildup, which could cause a fire hazard. Clean it with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before reinserting it.
Inspect Gas Connections: Regularly check the gas lines, valves, and connections for any leaks or signs of wear. Use soapy water to check for leaks; if bubbles form, immediately shut off the gas and have the system inspected by a professional.
Clean Burner Area: Ensure that the burner areas are free of food particles, grease, or debris that could clog the burners. A clean burner allows for efficient gas flow and helps maintain even heat distribution.
Monitor Flame Quality: Regularly check the burner flames to ensure they are blue and steady. If you notice yellow or uneven flames, it may indicate a burner clog or gas flow issue. Clean the burners or consult a technician if the problem persists.
Wipe Down the Griddle While Warm: Wipe down the griddle surface with a damp cloth while it is still warm (but not hot) to remove any carbon buildup. This will help maintain an even cooking surface and prevent buildup that could affect performance.
Inspect Control Knobs: Clean and inspect the control knobs to make sure they are functioning smoothly and accurately regulating the griddle's heat.
Check Temperature Accuracy: Test the griddle’s temperature settings periodically. If the griddle is not reaching the desired temperature or is heating unevenly, the thermostat may need adjustment or recalibration.
Professional Servicing: Schedule regular professional servicing to have a technician inspect and clean the griddle’s internal components, including the gas system and burners. This will ensure the griddle is operating safely and efficiently.
